HUGO BOSS reveals the new BOSS Womenswear Collection for Fall/Winter 2014, designed for the first time under the creative direction of designer Jason Wu. Precision tailoring and refined detail is what defines this modern collection. The German headquarters served as the source of inspiration as-well-as modernist buildings surrounded by lush greenery – essentially, architecture with nature. Inspired by this idea, Jason Wu manages to create a collection that maintains Hugo Boss’ rigour and austere aesthetic, but injects a sense of feminine softness.
Traditional menswear fabrics are used to create sophisticated silhouettes. Sculptured shoulders and expert tailoring are rendered in cashmere and silk and the idea of the bespoke suit is seen in jackets and dresses. A new proportion is seen in tailored suits with accented waistlines and flowing dresses with Bauhaus-inspired embroidery hint towards an architectural aesthetic. This aesthetic continues into accessories, where we see ankle boots, lace-up strap heels and tuxedo loafers – all with a menswear touch – and bags that feature a very rigid frame.
This collection combines the hard and the soft and the restrictive and the free in an inspired way that marks a new chapter in the Hugo Boss story.
