Usagi, a Japanese lifestyle store has finally set up its first retail store in Asia in the hip art district of Central. Founded by Sakamaki Tsukasa, Usagi is a gallery that shows an interesting selection of products made by Japanese artists that can uses the best of traditional Japan craftsmanship mix with contemporary art elements.
Similar to their stores in New York and Paris, their Hong Kong store mixes art with creative workshops and retail items. Visitors can find lifestyle products which are difficult to find in Hong Kong like the instant dry bath mat made from a soil which absorbs water quickly. Usagi also runs regular craft workshops like indigo dyeing workshops where visitors can learn the traditional skills of different Japanese fabric dyeing techniques.
