This Week at The Movies

Lots of cool, new flicks this week as we head into holiday.

Tomorrow is the start of the Holiday Movie Extravaganza. So let us quickly round up what is coming your way so you can get ready to book tickets:

I Am Legend: Will Smith’s new Last Man on Earth flick. As we posted last week, we rather liked the Charlton Heston version but hope that this is a fresh take and that the zombie/vampire/albino’s have afro’s still.

The Warlords (投名狀): This is the big Chinese blockbuster of the year – Andy Lau (劉德華), Jet Li (李連杰) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (金城武) in this period movie about 3 blood brothers dying the Qing Dynasty. This one is also a remake of a 1973 film. With all the star-power and money here, this better be good.

Alvin & The Chipmunks: CG Chipmunks and Jason Lee. Think Garfield The Movie but with singing Chipmunks. Oh, admit it, you remember the cartoon. “AL-VIIINNNNNNNN!!!!!”

Persepolis: French animation based on the graphic novel, but this might bore the kids as its about a young girl during the Iranian Revolution and most likely won’t have any singing animals or cute talking vehicles.

Get these 4 out of the way because next week we’ll see National Treasure 2, Golden Compass and Aliens Vs Predator 2.

And if you were one of the 2000+ people that crowded into Times Square last Friday to see Will Smith in person, then you can take a gander at this calm and relaxing press conference with the Fresh Prince that was shot earlier that day. Hmmm…Will Smith and Stephen Chow (周星馳) on The Karate Kid?
