We’re lucky to have the Fringe Club right in the middle of Central. We love this cultural hub that supports lots of alternative art activities from live music, performances of all kinds including comedy, play and art exhibitions. This August if you are in town and looking for some culture, check out the line-up at the Fringe Club. Here’s some of the performances we are looking forward to.
Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet is a team of 4 ladies playing classical bassoonists mix with pop with a dash of comedy. They are a lot of fun playing their all-original compositions in a range of different styles from Renaissance motets to cinematic music to jazz. They’ve big on social media too and have a YouTube following of a million views. In 2013, they premièred their commissioned concerto, Scott A. Switzer’s Breaking Out for four bassoons and wind ensemble, with the Yale Concert Band. James Cuddeford x Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Come and enjoy concertmaster of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, James Cuddeford perform at the Fringe. James is one of Australia’s internationally aclaimed chamber musician who payed with the acclaimed Australian String Quartet in 1998, and was subsequently violinist with the Grainger Quartet and Sydney Soloists.

All that Swing by the Saturday Night Jazz Orchestra (SNJO), founded in 1990 and comprises of 20 rocking musicians from all over the world is playing in August at the Fringe Club. Led by Taka Hirohama, the SNJO has performed in many music and arts festivals and will be playing music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Bob Mintzer.
