Review: Super Robot Show 2007 Concert

Amazing live performances of classic anime theme songs.

Last Saturday we attended the second show of the Super Robot Show concert at HITEC. You might imagine a bunch of kids attending a concert about anime theme songs but these were all 30+ year olds reliving their youth. If The Rolling Stones can still perform then this Japanese super-group of over-50′s can definitely still kick it out. Ichirou Mizuki, Mitsuko Horie, Hironobu Kageyama, Masaaki Endoh and MIQ ; all performed with amazing showmanship, amazing voices, charisma and had the entire 1000+ audience signing along, fists in the air for the entire 2-hour concert where classic songs like Mazinger Z, Combattler V and countless other songs were performed even with an acoustic set.

We have never seen anything like this and will probably never again until the SRS returns to Hong Kong again hopefully sooner than later. Special thanks must go out to Animation International for arranging this concert in Hong Kong. The only thing that disappointed us was the lack of cosplay and that we only saw one guy dressed up like the human-version of Kamen Rider V3.

Now enjoy our photo and video gallery:
