Pirates to Invade Hong Kong

By Butterboom Writers  /  February 7, 2007

First pirate post not about bootleg DVD’s!

This is going to be fun! Yes, that is Chow Yun-Fat in both shots above. Thanks to the make-up of a multi-million dollar Hollywood production, Mr. Chow is going to play pirate Sao Feng in this Summer’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – the third and possibly final installment of the Johnny Depp trilogy.

Sao Feng is based on real life Hong Kong pirate Cheung Po Tsai who stored his treasure on Cheung Chau and built temples in Tin Hau in the 19th century.

This is one of the reasons why I love Hollywood movies – I mean Chow Yun-Fat has had an awesome career but getting a chance to see him dress up as a pirate and chase Elizabeth Swan around and maybe even tangle swords with Jack Sparrow is mastermind casting and secures it a place on our Top Movies to See This Summer list!
And look he is even getting an action figure made of his Pirates character.

More promo photos are here.

No trailer yet, but here is the one to Part 2: Dead Man’s Chest.
See you May 24 for its opening in Hong Kong.
