Nicole Scherzinger’s Twitter Dress

By Butterboom Writers  /  December 13, 2012

Fusing fashion and technology for the launch of Britain’s first 4G mobile network.

Former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger, caused quite a stir last week by turning herself into a living Twitter stream. She wore a floor-length French chiffon dress that united high-fashion with high-technology, featuring 2000 LED lights and 3000 Swarovski crystals. Commissioned by telecommunications company EE for the launch of their 4G network, live Tweets flashed across the bodice of the dress from the handle @EE or #tweetthedress.

The dress was designed by CuteCircuit, a fashion technology company who are best know for creating Katy Perry‘s light up dress for the Met Gala back in 2010. CuteCircuit’s clothes are electronically powered, embedded with lights and rechargeable via USB, could this be the future of fashion?
