With March here, that means one thing; Art month is happening soon and we look forward to spotting the next emerging talent. There’s a long list of openings and art fairs from Art Central to exhibitions in South Island Cultural District, but where do you really start? To help you with schedule-planning, we’ve come up with a list of all the top art events to float creative juices. Art Basel

Art Basel has earned itself a reputation with some of the top artists in the world. The world-class art exhibition is Hong Kong’s biggest most prestigious destination for art to date. Expert paintings, sculptures, drawings and intallations from more than 3000 emerging and established artist. One of the sectors, Encounters, will feature 17 projects from international artists by Pio Abad, Rasheed Araeen, Katharina Grosse, Gonkar Gyatso and Joyce Ho to name a few.

Art Central

Art Central returns to Hong Kong on 21 – 25 March and the event includes a strong line-up of artists. Expect some of the most established contemporary art galleries and over 32,000 collectors, art enthusiasts and curators. This year, the fair has lined up several exciting programs including Projects, a large-scale installation by 6 artists and Performance X4A, a Sydney based not-for-profit art organisation.

Asia Contemporary Art Show

Focusing on emerging artists in Asia, Asia Contemporary Art Show is full of traditional fine pieces like Chinese paintings, watercolours and oil painting from countries like China, Japan and Chile to name a few. Held at the Conrad Hotel, some of the featured artists include Li Baiming (China), Lydia Moawad (Lebanon) and Brian Sze (Hong Kong).

South Island Side

Behind the industrial building of the Wong Chuk Hang district is South Island Side, a lesser known art area in the 852. There’s an exciting month ahead with art tours, exhibition openings and dance performances at the art spaces here. Some of our favourites include Emmanuel Monzon at Charbon Art Space, Siah Armajani at Rossi Rossi and Euan Macleod at Michael Nook Studio.

Parasite_Butterboom

Para Site presents Soil and Stones, Souls and Songs, an exhibition based on how Asia has transformed the world over the decades. See works from some of the coolest contemporary artworks on display from established and emerging artists from around the world including Pio Abad, Tarek Atoui, Josh Faught and Edgar Fernandez.
