Gong Li Taking Over Hollywood

Asian actresses are all the rage these days?

I must say I am impressed with all the roles that Gong Li is getting these days. And Maggie Q as well. Li has been in no fewer than 4 big-budget Hollywood movies in the last 12 months: from Miami Vice to Memoris of a Geisha to Curse of the Golden Flower to Hannibal Rising!?! (Yes, she is in a movie about the early days of Sir Anthony Hopkins most famous flesh eating killer: Hannibal the Cannibal.) The photo above is from the premiere, following its Feb 9th US release – it opens in Hong Kong on March 15.

It seems the 41-year old Mainland star is “hot” in Hollywood – and she couldn’t have picked a better time with her more mature and shapely-figure she is looking quite elegant and cool in these recent batch of films – holding her look up well opposite 30-year old Colin Farrell in Miami Vice.

The rest of her 2007 output doesn’t look as busy so she will be able to pick more interesting films.

She is nominated for Best Actress for her role in Curse of the Golden Flower in the first Asian Film Awards, so hopefully she comes to Hong Kong to attend that event in March.

More photos of her from the Hannibal Rising premiere are here.
