David Downton is a London based fashion illustrator famous for his portraits of models, Erin O’Connor, Lily Cole and Linda Evangelista. He has been drawing fashion illustration at Paris Haute Couture since 1996 and worked on illustration for Tiffany & Co, Harrods and some of the big labels in Europe.

He was recently in Hong Kong to launch the second edition of his fashion illustrator journal, Pourquoi Pas? Pourquoi Pas is French for why not? In today’s fashion world, where everything is captured in photos, David’s journal is a significant attempt to preserve and celebrate the art of fashion illustration and give it a relevant voice in the industry

Pourquoi Pas is a beautiful compilation of fashion illustration, articles and profiles from today’s style maker illustrated with fashion illustration. The Glamour issue features David’s sitting with Dita Von Teese, profile work from some of the most prominent illustrators today,  René Gruau, Tony Viramontes and Jeremiah Goodman.

I love David Downtons work, I am a fashion illustrator, I think of myself as coming out of retirement after not work in many years. Please visit my website above. 98% of the work posted is computer generated, but I soon hope to post some water color.
