Sexy goth takes a spotlight with Hong Kong designer Erbert Chong Autumn/Winter 2014 collection. Paying homage to the 1910s/1920s Art Deco era (in particular Fritz Lang’s 1927 science fiction movie Metropolis), the collection fuses old world glamour and black magic to give it a sense of sophistication and edginess. Staying close to its brand philosophy of showcasing modern Asia, the collection’s pieces have Chinese heritage influenced details and silhouettes inspired by the qipao. Fabrics like handcrafted Chinese silk are sourced from Beijing’s oldest fabric shop, Rui Fu Xiang. Put it all together and Erbert’s collection brings a beautiful balance between old and new, modern with a touch of mystery.
