Mannish suits and modern psychedelica.
Prada’s hip, younger sister epitomises quirky chic and this collection is just that. Miu Miu’s fall 2012 collection combines masculine silhouettes with a distinctly seventies feel in this season’s collection.
The tailoring is anything but feminine; structured frock coat shapes over cropped trousers make up the basis of the mannish suits in royal blue, mustard and plum coloured fabrics with a metallic sheen. Beneath the suits emerge ruffle-fronted shirts with bold, seventies inspired prints in a spectrum of colours. Block colour suits succumb to print fever as mismatching shirts are clashed with mosaic print suits, it sounds bizarre, but Miu Miu makes it work.
It’s not all suits, however, A-line mini skirts are paired with cape-shouldered jackets and tunics are worn over trousers in block colours of sky-blue and black. To complete each look, square-toed platforms and slick rainbow eye embellishments prove to be the perfect accompaniments to each outfit.
