Sports luxe designs and cutaway tailoring on covetable pieces.
The French brand Carven has gathered quite a following among the chic and stylish in its home country. Their gamine suits and collared mini-dresses capture the je ne sais quoi of Parisian fashion; easy, relaxed and always a la mode. For Summer 2013 their signature skirt lengths are lengthened, their cutaways are more forgiving and their palette is vibrant; these clothes aren’t just for Parisian waifs, these are for everybody.
The dresses channel the sports luxe silhouettes that are so big right now, with high necks, racer backs and cutaways that play with proportions. Pants are loosely cut, roomy and relaxed for the summer. Creative Director Guillaume Henry sent them down the runway with cropped sweaters and contrast oversized collars; another on-trend look but only for those that dare to bare their midriff.
Fabrics are lightweight and fluid and the palette is rich and bold; think vermillion and petrol-blue, but softened with neutrals. A favourite of fashionista Alexa Chung, we can see why; the clothes are stylish and wearable, suitable for a day in the office or a summer soiree.
