UK designers show off bold color and prints for Fall.
It’s August and as stores prepare to bring in their Fall collections, we take a look at what’s in store in Hong Kong. While summer was all about bold, bright hues, Fall fashion takes us on a much more sophisticated journey with deeper, more dramatic bursts of colour. UK designers seem to be in agreement that the trend for this season includes knee high skirts and dresses in sharp, tailored silhouettes. Prints range from the geometric to the abstract in shades of maroon, mustard, burnt sienna and gray.
Christopher Kane focused on a canvas of black with bursts of flowers and lace. It proved to be an excellent combination of naughty and nice, and very true to the designer’s sensibilities.
Greek-born designer Mary Katrantzou celebrated sophisticated and scarf-like looking prints in her designs. Visually arresting, the prints were displayed in the best possible manner through basic cuts and simple silhouettes.
Lastly, Peter Pilotto illustrated clever color blocking and artful draping, proving that all you need is one main pop of color or design element to make a garment truly work.
