Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall ’09

D & G will be bringing operatic style to Hong Kong this Fall.

Flair and drama: that was the message that design duo Dolce & Gabbana sent out for their Fall ’09 collection. Drama came in the form of rich brocades and velvets, accented by tassels, jewels and studs. Fabrics with  damask prints, reminiscent of tapestry, were also a common sight. Skirts were flared out and poofy in lampshade fashion. Another unifying element was the bustier in showstopping shades of red, gold, navy, ochre and black.

Touches of rock and roll were also brought in: ratty statement tees paired with gauzy tutus  went down the runway, as were animal prints and studded denims. The presence of capes added a touch of drama to the assembles.

D & G’s Fall ’09 collection, to sum it up in a few words, was a marriage of opera and rock and roll. Themes that were worlds apart, but certainly eye-catching and attention-grabbing. Qualities that D & G definitely stand for.
