Dior gives us a glimpse of Portofino.
Brace yourself for summer because it’s going to be a scorcher with Christian Dior’s Resort 2012 collection. Inspired by the Italian resort of Portofino, the collection sees bold splashes of corals, pinks and rich blues in the form of cocktail kaftans, embroidered lounge dresses, crepe and georgette prints. The silhouette this season has taken a softer, more seductive approach – perfect for the gaze of envious onlookers as you stroll down the Italian Riviera.
The collection oozes plenty of ease and we especially love the black and white geometric print jumpsuit. The boat neckline romper also features pockets, a necessary detail to achieve laidback cool, and when paired with a wide brim hat and lattice sandals your lounging-by-the-pool outfit is good to go. Another of our favorites includes a cobalt blue sheer dress with an embroidered bodice and a slit high enough to elongate even the shortest of legs.
Maybe it’s the fact that the look book is shot against a backdrop of colorful beach huts and big rocks, but our thoughts right now are far from Christmas. Dior’s Resort Collection’s message is clear – there’s no such thing as dull times in Portofino – only blue skies, sun and really, really hot people!
