Calvin Klein women’s Creative Director, Francisco Costa, presented his Resort 2015 Calvin Klein Collection at the company’s New York headquarters and found inspiration in the artistic work of Henry Matisse. Given the painter’s use of daring colour, it’s a natural point of departure for a season associated with sun-soaked getaways.

Mr. Costa presented 21 looks, which shared an air of contemporary and youthful sensibility. The collection features easy silhouettes, focusing on knits paired with viscose crépes and textured leathers. Sleeveless knit dresses and separates were paired with trench coats and zip front jackets. A firm favourite from the collection and items that we predict will be on many stylish woman’s want list’s, are the selection of shift dresses. Costa showed simple designs in block colours, as well as more daring ones featuring laser prints and lucite flower appliqués. The clean palette was grounded in neutrals, such as optic white, beige and black – punctuated by Matisse-inspired shades of lapis, carmine and cerulean. Looks were completed with a rubber or patent leather ankle bootie offered in both closed and opened toe styles.
