The Spring/Summer 2015 Céline collection is why we love Céline; its strong, minimalist and dynamic. Creative director Phoebe Philo gets back on track with this very wearable collection that has clean lines, strong silhouettes, and is modern and forward-looking.
Tunic tops were met by cut-out sides and peeping shoulders, as were hemlines by oversized fringing. Military hued coats were detailed with metallic panelling, trousers were subtly flared and hung at the ankle, jackets were belted with visible stitching and sleeves were stiff and oversized. Meanwhile, prints exploded upon seventies driven dresses and when it came to footwear, flats were in favour with dresses, trousers and jumpsuits alike.
Maintaining her signature minimalist style mixed with just the right amount of avant-garde detailing, Philo has managed to create a collection that is as exciting as it is wearable and one that takes inspiration from the past but maintains its view firmly on the future. A true example of 21st century fashion.
