Do you remember the movie with Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansen called Ghost World (yes another comic book reference)?

Well that geek chic style is becoming hip these days as showcased by a UK brand. Luella Bartley, Founder and Chief Designer of Luella, flew in from London to attend the brand’s special event in Hong Kong at Elements, late last week to mark the launch of her latest limited edition collection: Friends of Luella.

The brands latest collection and limited edition bags where showcased by models including Amanda S. In addition, Chocolate Rain has especially made two Fatina dolls in commemoration of this event.

That rebellious new-age girl power feel from Ghost World resonates in this new collection. Both Thora Birch and this season’s Luella girl carry a strong element of rebellion and defiance but also can’t help that obsession with a cute flower print tea dress.

The collection goes through the stages of a geeky girl’s transformation into a fully fledged super hero. Bags are big, plastic and colorful worth plenty of pockets for super hero gadgets, or cute vintage inspired granny handbags. Finished with the most exotic materials like ostrich skin, python skin and patent leather, these limited edition handbags are made with the most meticulous craftsmanship coupled with distinct Luella metal buckles.

Selective designs are limited to only two or more globally and are available at the Hong Kong and London retail stores only.
