You either love him or hate him, but one thing is for sure, designer Jeremy Scott is not afraid to frighten with his new design for Longchamp. Fabulous or fearsome? Gorgeous or gruesome? The answer is both. Le Pliage Madballs, Jeremy Scott’s latest limited edition of Longchamp’s iconic foldable travel bag, is set to start a style debate. A string of models, fashion style stars and bloggers including Ming Xi and Soo Joo Pak have taken to the bold design and it was a firm fixture on the Fashion Week circuits.

Drawing on his knowledge of pop culture, the American designer took inspiration from Madballs, the bouncy rubber balls with crazy faces that became a playground craze in the 1980s. Madball designed sweaters were a standout at Jeremy Scott’s recent New York fashion show, and now the outlandish designer has had two of his favourite characters printed onto the canvas of Le Pliage. The character Skull Face comes in a bright yellow colourway, while Screaming Meemie is a white and red combination that is sure to stand out. Best not to carry one of these on the school run…
