Altelier D’Auchel Opens First Store in Hong Kong

By Butterboom Writers  /  September 2, 2015

D’ Auchel, a French made-to-order leather goods company that adhere to the centuries-old French craftsmanship  of making bags with French artisans has open their  first Hong Kong atelier on Lyndhurst Tower.

D’Auchel takes their leather making very seriously and rightly so as their bags cost anything from HK$40,000 to HK$300,000 depending on style, leather and colour.  Hiring only artisans  that have trained in the traditional techniques at the Compagnons du Devoirs (a French apprentice training organisation from the Middle Ages where master craftsmen and artisans train apprentices in a craft). and who have spent another 10 years at a high-end atelier, each bags take two weeks to one month to complete after the orders are placed.

For the opening D’Auchel flew over their master craftsmen from France to give Hong Kongers a demonstration on the making of a D’Auchel handbag. Founder Olivier Dauchez is proud to be bringing his vision of how French hand-bags are made for centuries to Hong Kong where no expense will be spared to create a customised haute couture bag for Madame or Mademoiselle.Dauchel_Hong Kong_Butterboom
