Eve Lom’s coveted cleanser a hit in Hong Kong

Beauty addicts take note. The Eve Lom cleanser is becoming as popular in Hong Kong as it has been in the UK and US, where celebs such as Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow are said to be fans.

The brand was only sold at the Mandarin Oriental, but is now also available in Lane Crawford.  “We had an increase in both sales and media coverage of Eve Lom cleanser during October,” says a brand spokeswoman. “People are very satisfied with the immediate result.”

Containing Egyptian chamomile, hops, clove, eucalyptus oil and cocoa butter, it cleans (including removing makeup), tones and exfoliates in one. It comes with a woven muslin cloth, said to improve circulation.

Born in Czechoslovakia, Lom became a facialist in the US in the early 1980s. She relocated to London to study anatomy, nutrition and massage, and trained in acupuncture. In 1984, the first Eve Lom salon opened in London.  Her cleanser quickly took on cult status after a slew of celebrity endorsements.
